August Round-Up

Well, fall is in the air (though it doesn't officially start till the 21st does it?). I just finished high school orientation, which is every bit intimidating as it sounds. I'll catch the wisps of freedom as the impending start day of school comes. Yet, I still have summer reading to finish, but then I'll get to delve once more back into YA.

August has been a fairly slow month. I got back from camp and still miss dearly. On the bright side, I got to intern at a local real estate office and use some of my design skills from the blog. My grandmother also came to visit, after over a year separated I loved seeing her again. I can't wait to get back into the rhythm of reading.

It has been a hard last couple months with having to move and put my book blogging hobby as a much more public thing I do. I hope to get back into books and blogging though I don't have access to my own laptop, so some of the graphics will be kind of weird.

December Roundup

This month has been a leave of absence for your blogger... so my apologies, but I've taken a bit more liberty in choosing what I read instead of reading for my blog. This has a relieved a lot of stress for now, but I've gotten around to visiting some very sweet local bookstores.

They've been selling new, used, and antique books since 1975 and are basically crammed foot to ceiling with book. It also smells delicious. 

 Happy Holidays! (whether it be Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza, or nothing) I know at the top of my book wish list is Knowledge is Beautiful (some very cool infographics//that I will buy with my grandparent's yearly gift of a book store gift card).

November Monthly Review

Winter is here! The magical land of snow and frost, but here the weather has yet to cooperate. Earlier this month we had a bunch of snow sitting on the ground, but now in the beginning of Decmeber we have none.*Sigh* My book reading pace has slowed a bit lately because of all the work, but really the internet has been taking over too much of my life. November really lost me on scheduling, but I am slowly catching up and I am excited to participate in The Perpetual Page Turner 2014 Book Survey.

October Monthly Review

Wow, October was stressful. I did not see so many things coming up in school. I may have neglected my blog for a couple of days. I also had my blogoversary and spent some time with Summer and Anne on a panel. Overall, I managed to get out of a huge reading slump, have a loose schedule for blogging. But this month is Sci-fi Month hosted by Oh the Books! I plan doing a couple posts this month. Yay!

Fall is officially here in full swing with tea, leaves, and books. September has had most of settling into the routine of school and other extra circulars. I, myself, have started being a bit strained by all that my schedule demands, but feel that I am now learning how to handle all of it.

I am having a little bit of trouble with computer (read: pictures hosted on blogger are not loading on my laptop). My blogging is turn up side down- I don't know what to do. I was confused and felt really out of it. Right now I have nothing scheduled for October. I think I'm going to take it a bit easy and see where everything is going.

July & August Monthly Review

The last two months have been really busy with camp and traveling (post in September about that coming up). I didn't do a monthly recap in July because without access to a laptop you can't really link stuff which makes chronicling posts really hard, but never fear I now have a PC/laptop at my fingertips. I don't remember what books I've read (I plan to keep a list this coming year in 2015), but here is what has happen.

The last two months have been okay. I wished I had learned how to schedule before this summer that would have help. With the school year starting I hope to have a more regular schedule with bout 8-10 posts a month. I started the new feature Meet the Book Blogger which I hope to do monthly. I finished up the Summer Review I did a couple of none book related posts that I'm really happy about. I got a twitter @yabookologists . I also changed my background to something a bit more mature. This summer was a reinventing for me and my blog. Hope you like the new stuff and the changes!

June in Review

June was the worst month for me in terms of book blogging. I've been lagging behind and the blog has just really been stressing me out because of this I am going to do a light hiatus which will coincide with a lot of my traveling and camps. I might still put some scheduled post out but they will not be long. I will continue to follow some of the blogs. I have also shifted some of my priorities. I will now have a goal set at 7 or 8 posts a month. I have put up a new banner a blog button, but will probably not screw around as much with css and html. I also haven't done a Room by Book for a while, so I'll start doing some of those. That's all the news I have.

Uhhhh.... March has been so stressful. I have spreading myself way too thin in terms of blogging, 
although my New Year's Resolution was to blog way more. I have had play practice, got more serious about fencing, I was getting in season for track, finishing up Algebra, and an ELA project to end hunger.I also ended up picking up some not so good books. This Year in 2013 YA Books

Okay, this year was huge in YA fiction. I read so much this year I don't know how to rank them. Literally this whole year I was like a victory dance: 

So, of course I can't possibly rank them since that would against my conscience and that would be too hard for me since I'm so indecisive. This year there were starts and ends and middles to great YA books and series.

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

I mean it I loved this book. I've always liked fantasy, mostly urban and high, but this book made me love high fantasy some much more. I mean there is Mal who you can't help but despise because the Darkling is such a better choice (that may be a little biased). The new power with the weird new dragons and then him showing up in ghost-like formation. Mal goes out brawling just because he is not Grisha talk about weakness. Alina tries to salvage her relationship with Mal, but as always ends up running. She takes refuge with the Apparat in underground caves. I loved how we saw more of the world, but according to spoilers in Ruin and Rising the Darkling and Alina can hold a civil conversation!



Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me was really about Juliet growing up. She isn't a victim anymore; she can take on the world. The main problem in this books is Juliet's adjustment to a new world and that she isn't the only special one. Adam is pulling away, but you can see that Juliet is confused. Friends are found and friends leave. Just for your information, I did fall for Adam in the first book, but I found that Adam was too perfect. As always I fall for the bad guy and love Warners. I mean he is volatile with is unwavering devotion to Juliet. Can't wait for Ignite Me.







House of Hades by Rick Riordan

This installment was just character development. We saw Percy and Annabeth build their relationship after struggling in Tartarus. Jason and Piper get over the whole I'm sorta Roman sorta Greek and picked it up. And then, oh, Nico came out that he had a crush on Percy for the longest time- I mean talk about surprises, I just thought Nico was getting a girlfriend this time around. Leo was never going to fit in; we saw that back in the Lost Hero, but I mean Calypso and Leo- that was pushing it. Don't forget seeing that evil is never as it always seems because not everybody is labeled correctly like Bob. I liked that we are seeing Europe and the evil side of Octavian. Bob says hi to the stars and moon.   



Endless Knight by Kresley Cole

I don't normally fall head over heels with fantasy dystopians because they are usually just too out there. I immensely (don't you like my word choice?) enjoyed the Tarot cards and powers that each character has. I mean look at Death and how he wants Empress Evie. Ohh she wants Death, but does her heart still belong to Jack. Let's not forget how the Devil and the others are trying to kill her some with very original ideas.
